PH Embassy in Italy Celebrates 127th Independence Day with Flag Raising Ceremony

Rome: The Filipino communities in Italy commemorated the country's 127th Independence Day with a flag-raising ceremony spearheaded by the Philippine Embassy in Rome. Ambassador Nathaniel Imperial, in his message, emphasized the courage and sacrifices of the heroes who fought for the country's freedom, echoing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s Independence Day message.

According to Philippines News Agency, Ambassador Imperial encouraged Filipinos to honor the legacy of independence and unite in strength, diversity, and hope. He acknowledged the contributions of millions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Italy and globally to the country's economy, urging them to avoid division and be united, guided by history and committed to a thriving future.

During the event, messages from Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac were delivered by Deputy Head of Mission Donna Celeste Feliciano-Gatmaytan and Attach© Teresa Lourdes Pimentel, respectively. Rosa Marbella, representing the Social Security System, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine Flag.

Select students from the International Philippine School Italy, International Migrant School, and Pinoy Teens Salinlahi entertained attendees with cultural performances. Guests were treated to a range of Philippine dishes in a breakfast hosted by Consul LV De Guzman. Consul General Randy Arquiza, Cultural Officer Naive Mamhot, and other officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Rome also attended the program.
