Manila: Six Filipinos will represent the country in the WorldSkills Asia competition in Taiwan from Nov. 27 to 29. This year's competition is expected to gather 500 competitors, experts, and professionals from 29 member and guest countries across Asia.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) emphasized that "the Philippines' active participation in international skills competitions not only demonstrates the capability of Filipino workers but also enhances the country's reputation as a champion of skills excellence." TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez stated, "Through WorldSkills, we affirm our commitment to empowering Filipino youth and workers through world-class training and opportunities that meet international standards."
Representing the Philippines are Hannah Krystelle Caintic in Graphic Design Technology; Agee Docayso in Cooking; James Calvin Sayago in Electrical Installations; Denmark Abuyog in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning; and Roneil Arriesgado and Abraham Badar in Mechatronics. Of the six representatives, four were gold medalists and two have earned Medallions for Excellence in their respective skill areas during the WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 last September.
Under the TESDA Act of 1994, the agency continues to promote quality skills development and international collaboration through participation in global skills competitions.
