Manila: The Philippine government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran resulting in the conclusion of Tel Aviv's 12-day assault on Tehran. 'The Philippines welcomes the US announcement of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, hopeful that it will be a crucial step towards achieving lasting peace in the region,' said Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza in a statement Wednesday. 'We urge all parties concerned to continue engaging in dialogue and negotiations toward a permanent solution to this issue.'
According to Philippines News Agency, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire deal between the two countries on Tuesday, followed by Israel's declaration of a 'historic victory' in its 12-day military action against Iran a day later. The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command has since lifted all restrictions on schools, public gatherings, and workplaces.
