Cebu: Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will begin direct flights between Cebu and Guam starting December 16. Flights from Cebu to Guam are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 9:40 p.m., arriving in Guam at 3:25 a.m. local time. The return flights from Guam to Cebu will operate every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 5:15 a.m., arriving in Cebu at 6:50 a.m.
According to Philippines News Agency, the flights will utilize Airbus A321ceo aircraft. PAL President Richard Nuttall highlighted that this new service boosts Cebu's strategic position as a gateway to international markets, offering Guam's significant Filipino community and travelers from the US Pacific territory direct access to the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Guam's Filipino community makes up nearly 30 percent of its 179,000 residents, a key demographic for the new flights. Nuttall emphasized that the nonstop flights demonstrate PAL's dedication to expanding its network and facilitating economic and tourism exchanges between the Philippines and Guam. The direct route also strengthens Cebu's status as an international gateway for both business and leisure travelers.
Athanasios Titonis, CEO of Aboitiz Infracapital Cebu Airport Corporation, expressed excitement about the new route, stating that it not only makes travel between islands faster and more efficient but also enhances the gateway for visitors from the US Pacific territories and Asia, promoting tourism and economic interaction between the destinations.
