Philippine Embassy Issues Advisory Against Travel to Seven Thai Border Provinces

Bangkok: The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok has advised Filipinos to avoid traveling to seven Thai provinces due to ongoing border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia. The provinces affected by this advisory are Ubon Ratchatani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Sa Kaeo, Buri Ram, Chantaburi, and Trat.

According to Philippines News Agency, the embassy has emphasized that travel to these areas is highly discouraged due to the current situation. They assured that the embassy is ready to assist Filipinos in need and will continue to keep an eye on developments in Thailand. Filipinos residing in the affected regions have been urged to follow any evacuation orders and advice from local authorities, employers, and community officials.

The embassy also advised all overseas Filipinos near the border areas to exercise extreme caution, stay vigilant, and take measures to ensure their safety. They were encouraged to report their whereabouts to the embassy and to actively monitor official communication channels for security updates.

The clashes between Thailand and Cambodia began near the disputed Ta Moan Thom Temple and have spread to several areas along the border. As reported, the death toll from both sides has reached 32, with more than 130 people injured as of July 26.

Filipinos in Thailand needing assistance can contact the embassy's Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) hotline or the Migrant Workers Office ATN hotline. Additionally, Filipinos residing in the border provinces are encouraged to complete a survey for faster coordination with the embassy.

Similarly, affected Filipinos in Cambodia can contact the embassy there for assistance and are also urged to complete a coordination survey.
