Manila: The Philippine government is ready to counter any attempts to destabilize the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Malaca±ang said on Friday. In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that the government is fully prepared for any actions that may be planned against the administration.
According to Philippines News Agency, Castro assured the public of the government's readiness to respond to any schemes aiming to disrupt the current administration. She urged the citizens to remain vigilant and to disregard information from 'obstructionists' and 'fake news peddlers' whose main objective is to unseat President Marcos.
Castro advised the public to critically evaluate the sources of any troubling reports, questioning whether these sources are credible or if they are individuals without authority spreading misinformation. She stressed the importance of identifying the origins of such reports before giving them any credence, particularly if they appear to come from parties interested in removing the President.
In a related development, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., during a media interview in Makati City on Thursday, highlighted the potential consequences of a military junta similar to Myanmar. He warned that any 'extra-constitutional' actions by the military could have severe repercussions on the Philippine economy.
President Marcos, in an interview on October 15, reiterated that the government remains steadfast and resilient amid the alleged destabilization attempts against him and his administration.
