According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro highlighted the importance of securing the seat, as it would enable the Philippines to contribute to international peace and security decisions while bolstering its reputation as a peace advocate. Castro expressed that this is the proper time for the Philippines to demonstrate its eligibility for a non-permanent seat at the UNSC, despite criticism from some lawmakers.

Castro reiterated that the Philippines' candidacy could significantly influence international agendas and participate in global peace and security decisions. She stressed that securing the seat would not only enhance the country's credibility as a leader for peace but also strengthen its integrity and commitment to global peace initiatives.

Philippine Ambassador to the United States, Jose Manuel Romualdez, supported the campaign, noting its potential to address pressing global issues, including escalating tensions in the Middle East. Romualdez emphasized that having a seat at the UNSC, even temporarily, would allow the Philippines to have a stronger voice in global decision-making processes, thereby influencing peace and security initiatives and safeguarding national and regional interests.

The Philippines is vigorously campaigning for a non-permanent seat on the UNSC for the 2027-2028 term. The elections for the council seat are scheduled for June 2026, with the Philippines expected to compete against Kyrgyzstan for the Asia-Pacific seat.
