New york: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced his plan to showcase the Philippines' best practices on gender equality and women empowerment during the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). During his two-day working visit, Marcos reiterated the Philippines' commitment to advancing women's rights.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos highlighted the significance of the upcoming anniversary of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, which the Philippines signed in 1980 and ratified in 1981, becoming the first Southeast Asian country to do so. Marcos emphasized that his participation in the CSW reflects the Philippines' dedication to gender equality and empowerment of women.

Marcos stated that the UN engagements offer a platform for the Philippines to share its experiences, challenges, and lessons in promoting women's rights and empowerment. Additionally, the country will focus on its progress related to the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, emphasizing its role in advancing inclusive peace processes.

He expressed hope that the Philippines' experiences could contribute to strengthening global efforts towards gender equality and enhancing women's participation in peace-building and governance.
