Manila: First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has announced the Philippines' readiness to host the 48th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leader's Summit in Cebu, marking a significant diplomatic gathering. The summit is scheduled to take place on May 7 and 8.
According to Philippines News Agency, Araneta-Marcos led a meeting with Leaders' Liaison Officers at Malaca±an Palace in Manila on April 30 as part of the comprehensive preparations undertaken by the government for the upcoming summit. In her social media communications, the First Lady emphasized that the liaison officers will provide continuous support to each delegation, highlighting the importance of teamwork and meticulous attention to detail as part of the Filipino hospitality.
Additionally, Araneta-Marcos shared on Instagram that the country is prepared to extend a warm and thoughtful welcome to all participants, underscoring the unique Filipino way of hosting such significant international events.
As the ASEAN Chair for 2026, the Philippines is gearing up to host a series of summit-related events across different locations, including Cebu and Manila.
