Manila: The Philippine Men's National Football Team (PMNFT) suffered its worst defeat against Myanmar in a long while after dropping a 1-4 decision in the ASEAN Hyundai Cup at New Clark City Athletics Stadium Tuesday night.

According to Philippines News Agency, the match began with an early goal from Myanmar's Kyaw Min Oo, who silenced the 3,104-strong crowd by scoring in the seventh minute. Myanmar's dominance continued as Than Paing extended the lead to 2-0 in the 28th minute. The PMNFT nearly had a chance to reduce the deficit late in the first half when they appeared to have forced a penalty. However, the referee overturned the decision after consulting the video assistant referee, maintaining the 2-0 scoreline going into halftime.

In the second half, the PMNFT managed to pull one back with a goal from Jarvey Gayoso in the 68th minute, giving the home crowd a brief moment of hope. However, Myanmar's Win Naing Tun dashed those hopes by scoring the third goal for his team in the 81st minute. Than Paing then completed his brace with another goal just two minutes later, sealing Myanmar's commanding victory.

The win marked a significant rebound for Myanmar after their 1-5 defeat in a June friendly and put them on the board in Group B. This followed their challenging 1-2 loss at home to Malaysia. Conversely, the Philippines finds itself just ahead of winless Laos on goal difference, positioned at the bottom of the table.
