Cebu: The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has mobilized its fleet of trucks in Central and Eastern Visayas to assist the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in delivering emergency relief supplies to families affected by the powerful earthquake in Cebu.
According to Philippines News Agency, PHLPost reported the postal trucks were dispatched to transport food packs, sleeping kits, and laminated sacks for temporary shelters to Bogo City and neighboring municipalities. Postal Area 5 Director Marilyn Alcoy has been closely coordinating with DSWD Cebu to ensure the timely distribution of aid to evacuation centers and affected communities, PHLPost said.
PHLPost emphasized its role as the country's universal service provider, maintaining a nationwide logistics and delivery network capable of reaching even the remotest barangays. Besides keeping a standby fleet of trucks, the agency has facilities nationwide that can serve as logistics hubs during disasters, thereby enabling it to complement government relief operations.
While actively supporting humanitarian efforts, PHLPost assured that mail and parcel delivery continues in unaffected areas. This demonstrates the agency's commitment to serving as both a reliable public utility and a partner in disaster response.
