PHP1.7 Million Worth of Shabu Seized in Zamboanga, Suspect Arrested

Zamboanga: Authorities arrested a high-value suspect and seized approximately PHP1.7 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in an anti-drug operation here early Thursday. Colonel Fidel Fortaleza Jr., Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspect only as 'Chan-Chan,' 22, a student and resident of Barangay Calarian.

According to Philippines News Agency, 'Chan-Chan was apprehended by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) operatives during a buy-bust operation at a motel in Barangay Guiwan. Colonel Fortaleza reported that the CDEU conducted the anti-drug operation following weeks of surveillance on the suspect's illegal drug trade activities.

The operation led to the seizure of approximately 250 grams of suspected shabu, along with boodle money and a belt bag from the suspect. 'Chan-Chan is currently being held at the Zamboanga City Police Station 5 while charges for violation of Republic Act 9196, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against him.
