Manila: PLDT pulled off a 25-14, 26-24, 21-25, 25-10 victory over Akari in the PVL On Tour late Saturday night at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium in Tubod, Lanao del Norte. According to Philippines News Agency, Savi Davison led the High Speed Hitters with 22 points, followed by Kim Dy with nine. Mika Reyes, Alleiah Malaluan, Majoy Baron, and Jovie Prada each contributed six points. With Davison on the firing end, PLDT outhit Akari, 54-46, but it was the High Speed Hitters' net defense that proved decisive. PLDT finished with nine blocks, seven more than Akari, which helped them secure the victory. Despite committing 29 errors, PLDT benefited from Akari's 31 errors, as both teams struggled with consistency in offense and defense. Homegrown talent Kath Arado posted 19 excellent digs to earn Best Player of the Game honors in the two-hour, 15-minute encounter. On the Akari side, Faith Nisperos finished with 12 points, while Chenie Tagaod chipped in eight points, and Ivy Lacsina and Grethcel Soltones scored seven points each. In the other match, Farm Fresh defeated Nxled, 25-23, 25-13, 25-22. The tournament now moves to Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Aug. 22, with Farm Fresh facing Capital1 at 4 p.m. and Galeries Tower taking on Creamline at 6:30 p.m.
