Manila: The Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) announced the arrest of 21 individuals following a series of operations conducted from January 2 to January 8.

According to Philippines News Agency, the arrests included 15 suspects apprehended through entrapment operations, while six were identified as wanted persons for cybercrime-related violations. The PNP-ACG also reported the handling of 30 referred cases during this period, which consisted of 19 regular filings and 11 inquest proceedings. This reflects enhanced case preparation and effective collaboration with prosecutors.

The PNP-ACG emphasized the strengthening of its investigative capabilities through the execution of five Warrants to Disclose Computer Data. These warrants allowed authorities to lawfully obtain critical electronic evidence essential for ongoing cases. Preventive measures were also maintained, with 431 cyber patrolling activities carried out nationwide to monitor online spaces, deter potential threats, and safeguard the public from digital exploitation.

To aid in case resolution, the PNP-ACG completed six digital forensic examinations, ensuring that the gathered evidence adhered to technical and legal standards. Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. remarked on the significance of these efforts, stating, "The numbers reflect more than statistics; they reflect commitment. We will continue to strengthen our cyber capabilities."
