PNP and LTO Collaborate to Strengthen Cybercrime Prevention Efforts

Manila: The Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have entered into a partnership to enhance efforts in data privacy protection, cybersecurity, and the fight against cybercrimes. This collaboration aims to address issues such as online scams and the presence of unauthorized intermediaries in land transportation services.

According to Philippines News Agency, PNP-ACG Director Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang and LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II formalized the partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at Camp Crame. This agreement enables both agencies to share resources and strategies to enforce transport-related regulations effectively.

The MOU also facilitates the organization of joint training sessions on cybersecurity and data protection by the PNP-ACG and the LTO. The initiative acknowledges the increasing use of online platforms for licensing and registration, highlighting the necessity to protect personal data and prevent its misuse.

Yang emphasized the importance of a unified approach in confronting the challenges at the intersection of land transportation services and cybersecurity threats. The cooperation between the PNP-ACG and the LTO represents a strategic move to safeguard public interests in the digital realm.
