PNP Chief Optimistic on Solving Digos City Village Chief Slay

Digos city: The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has expressed optimism that the investigation into the killing of a Digos City barangay captain last November would soon be resolved. During a command visit to Police Regional Office-11 (PRO-11) here Monday, Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. directed PRO-11 chief Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete to employ all measures to solve the murder of Barangay Tres de Mayo Captain Oscar 'Dodong' Bucol Jr., who was shot while livestreaming on Nov. 25, 2025.

According to Philippines News Agency, Gen. Nartatez emphasized the importance of not setting a strict timeline for the investigation, suggesting instead that provincial directors be relieved if the case remains unresolved. He cited his past success in solving a high-profile road rage case within 20 hours as evidence of what focused pressure can achieve.

Nartatez also urged public cooperation, stating that community-provided information is vital for securing convictions. The PNP chief's remarks underscore the importance of community involvement in solving crimes and the commitment of the police force to bring justice to the slain village chief's family.
