Quezon city: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has pledged to cultivate a more disciplined and ethical police force by 2026, urging all personnel to align their actions with principles of lawfulness, fairness, and genuine service. This commitment was made during a recent event where the PNP emphasized its dedication to instilling these values across its ranks.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PNP introduced its 6-Point Ethical Policing Guide as a foundational tool for officers, reminding them to consistently evaluate their actions through the lens of legality, justice, honor, and fairness. The guide underscores the necessity of maintaining public trust through transparency and accountability, while firmly rejecting corruption, abuse of authority, and unethical practices.

Lawyer Brigido Dulay, inspector general of the PNP Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS), described the guide as a moral compass for officers, emphasizing the importance of acting with integrity. "Upholding justice, respecting human rights, and ensuring accountability must always be at the heart of police service," Dulay stated, reinforcing the guide's core principles.

During Monday's celebration of the 32nd PNP Ethics Day at Camp Crame, Quezon City, Lt. Col. Frederick Bajala, executive officer of the Integrity Development Unit of PNP-IAS, read the guide to attendees. The event also recognized PNP personnel who exhibited exceptional dedication and bravery in law enforcement nationwide.

Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. attended the celebration, affirming that honesty, service, and integrity are non-negotiable elements in police work. The event served as a reminder to all PNP personnel of their obligation to uphold these values in their daily duties.
