Caloocan city: The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Tuesday that it has identified two suspects in the shooting death of vlogger Alicia Lipata, also known as Mima Alicia, in Caloocan City.

According to Philippines News Agency, PNP public information chief and spokesperson Col. Allen Rae Co refrained from disclosing further information about the suspects' identities or the syndicate allegedly involved due to the ongoing police operation. "We've identified the suspects behind the killing of the Caloocan City vlogger. Most probably, they are syndicate members or were hired by a syndicate to kill Alicia," Co stated in a chance interview at Camp Crame. He added that one of the suspects has multiple prior cases, and authorities are actively pursuing them.

The PNP is investigating whether Alicia's public statements could have been a motive for the suspects' actions. Meanwhile, police are working closely with Alicia's family to ensure their safety and to prepare criminal charges against the suspects.

Alicia was shot by two men on a motorcycle early Friday morning in front of her home in Caloocan City. Neighbors, alarmed by the gunfire, found her and her partner and rushed them to the hospital.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, focusing on the possibility that the attack was related to Alicia's work as a political vlogger. The Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has been tasked with reviewing the social media content posted by Alicia to aid in the investigation. Additionally, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is ensuring the safety of Alicia's partner, who remains hospitalized.

"We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and supporters of the victim. We assure them of the PNP's commitment to identify and arrest all those responsible in the interest of truth and justice," Nartatez conveyed to reporters.
