PNP Mobilizes Forces for Weekly Friday Protests in Metro Manila

Metro manila: Police forces in Metro Manila will secure the weekly public assemblies to be held every Friday. Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. said in a statement Friday that commanders in Metro Manila and other areas where public assemblies would be held have been advised to prepare for the events, including coordination with the organizers.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nartatez assured that the PNP has not monitored serious threats to national security. "We understand the importance of these activities for people who seek the truth, for people who seek justice, for people who call for justice amid allegations of wrongdoings involving taxpayers' money," Nartatez stated.

He further explained that the police commanders, particularly in Metro Manila, have been alerted to these series of protests scheduled every Friday, leading up to the rally on November 30. Part of the PNP's preparations includes ensuring that there is no repetition of the September 21 riot in Manila, which was instigated by a group that included minors.

Nartatez highlighted that ground commanders have been instructed to make regular adjustments based on the situation, with a sufficient number of officers on standby. "We are always ready for any eventuality, especially those who would dare to exploit these public assemblies to sow violence and openly violate the law," he added.
