Quezon city: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has begun organizing security measures for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28.
According to Philippines News Agency, PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III announced during a press conference at Camp Crame that discussions and coordination efforts have already commenced with relevant offices and the sergeant at arms. "We already had initial talks together with the concerned offices and coordination with the sergeant at arms. We will coordinate on that," Torre stated.
Gen. Torre assured the public of a peaceful SONA, emphasizing the PNP's readiness for any situation. "We are going to prepare with the worst in mind but of course we also hope for the best," he noted.
In addition, Torre highlighted the PNP's ongoing efforts to incorporate technology into crime prevention and enforcement activities. "Rest assured we are making leaps and bounds in integrating these technologies in our operations," he said.
At the beginning of his tenure, Torre committed to implementing a five-minute police response nationwide and stressed the importance of police presence on the streets to achieve this objective.
