POC Bares Parade Uniforms for Southeast Asian Games-Bound Team PH

Manila: The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) unveiled Tuesday the parade uniform of the Philippine delegation for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) opening ceremony at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Dec. 9.

According to Philippines News Agency, athletes and officials will be clad in parade uniforms crafted by designer Avel Bacudio. POC president Abraham Tolentino stated, "Any, if not all of Avel's designs, are always dedicated and reflective of our country," in a news release.

Athletes will don red parade uniforms, while officials and coaches will wear blue. Both uniforms are intricately designed, featuring the Philippine flag on the left chest and the POC logo on the right. The uniforms also incorporate the yellow and white colors of the national flag. Bacudio's creations use materials such as pi±a, bamboo, water lily, abaca, and saluyot fibers, woven by artisans from Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga, Ilocos, Abra, La Union, Aklan, and Bacolod.

Bacudio described the collection as representing every island of the Philippines, with a nod to history in a recent Mega Asia article that featured his Alas ng Pilipinas design and Gintong Sinag, a collection honoring national athletes. Filipino athletes are set to compete in all 50 SEAG sports across three areas.

Bangkok will be the main host with 32 sports and three demonstration sports in 48 venues, Chonburi will host 17 sports and one demonstration sport in 21 venues, and Songkhla will feature nine sports in 10 venues.
