Cagayan de oro: Police and military forces in Northern Mindanao are heightening security measures for the holiday season due to surging crowds, officials said Tuesday. Col. Al Abanales, acting director of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (MORPPO), announced that intensified patrols, checkpoints, and community operations are underway under the "Ligtas Paskuhan 2025" program. "Priority areas include crowded public areas, markets, transport terminals, major roads, and residential areas to safeguard everyone celebrating the holidays," Abanales said in a statement.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office has assured full deployment of personnel to critical areas as traffic increases. In Misamis Occidental, new provincial police director Col. Reynaldo Maclang has been ordered to maximize peace and order efforts. Additionally, the Philippine Army's 89th Infantry Battalion in Bukidnon is conducting joint checkpoints and patrols with police and local governments.

Security monitoring is set to extend to the upcoming December 26th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines, which government forces are watching for potential rebel movements.
