Albay: Potable water, face masks, medicines for respiratory illnesses, and additional manpower are among the urgent needs highlighted during the emergency meeting of the Bicol Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Sunday. Office of Civil Defense-Bicol (OCD-5) officer-in-charge Director Jessar Adornado emphasized the importance of identifying the immediate needs of affected local government units (LGUs) to ensure a prompt response.
According to Philippines News Agency, the LGUs of Camalig, Guinobatan, and Ligao City specifically reported a daily requirement for face masks, including N95 masks. Camalig has also requested hygiene kits, while Guinobatan requires 15,000 liters of potable water per day for 1,325 affected families. The water supply is planned to be rationed across 12 villages, including Quitago, Maguiron, and Inamnan Peque±o, among others.
The Department of Health in Bicol is set to provide jerry cans, additional face masks, nebulizers, and medicines. Additionally, the Bureau of Fire Protection will deploy 10 fire trucks from Camarines Sur, along with 40 personnel, to aid in clearing operations starting Monday. The Department of Public Works and Highways will continue declogging activities along national roads, with extra support from the Camarines Sur and Sorsogon district offices.
In terms of relief efforts, the Department of Social Welfare and Development will distribute family food packs, ready-to-eat meals, and hygiene kits to families in evacuation centers. Water filtration units from the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) and the Albay Public Safety and Management Office will also be deployed to affected LGUs. Furthermore, water sanitation teams from Masbate and Sorsogon will be stationed in Guinobatan.
Over 200 personnel from PRO-5 will contribute additional manpower for clearing operations. The OCD-5 will also coordinate with the Department of Agriculture to assess damage reports concerning livestock and farmlands.
