Cotabato city: The Aboitiz-owned Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) and the Bangsamoro Region's environment ministry jointly conducted a coastal clean-up activity here on Wednesday as part of the firm's corporate social responsibility (CSR).

According to Philippines News Agency, the clean-up drive held at the Bai Walk, a riverside walkway and park located in Barangay Kalanganan 2, aimed to clean and beautify the area while fostering community cooperation, said Doreen Alve V. Almirante, Cotabato Light supervisor and marketing and communications head.

Almirante stated, 'Through this, Cotabato Light is reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship and community collaboration.' The event was held in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MENRE-BARMM) and actively supported by volunteers from provincial and community environment and natural resources offices, the Police Maritime Group, and local officials of Barangay Kalanganan 2.

She added that this initiative forms part of Cotabato Light's ongoing Adopt-an-Estero/Coastal Program (2024-2026) under a three-year Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with MENRE-BARMM. Aside from picking up trash and in support of the barangay's waste management efforts, Cotabato Light also donated trash bins to Barangay Kalanganan and the Grand Mosque, reinforcing proper waste disposal and encouraging residents to adopt cleaner, more sustainable practices.

'For Cotabato Light, environmental care is not just a responsibility-it is a shared mission,' Almirante said.
