Iloilo City: A potential partnership between Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation (MIESCOR) and More Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) is now being explored to drive modernization and expansion of power distribution in Iloilo and Negros provinces.
According to Philippines News Agency, beyond engineering and construction, the collaboration will include comprehensive training programs for linemen and the establishment of a Utility Attachment Office to regulate telephone and cable line attachments to electric poles. The initiative seeks to eliminate the hazardous and unsightly "spaghetti wiring" in Iloilo City, MORE Power said in a press statement on Monday.
"We at MORE and Negros Power are truly grateful for MIESCOR's interest. Their expertise in the power sector is highly respected. We believe that their involvement would be invaluable as we expand and modernize our operations in Iloilo and Negros provinces. This partnership holds great promise for achieving even greater progress in providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions for our communities," MORE Power president and chief executive officer Roel Castro said.
MIESCOR, a subsidiary of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), is a provider of engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance, and project management services. MIESCOR executives, including president Richard Ochava, chief operations officer Wilfredo Bernardo, and engineering, procurement, and construction business unit head Sam Montoya, recently visited the headquarters of MORE Power in Iloilo City, where they discussed their possible collaboration.
'We see a tremendous opportunity to work alongside MORE Power as they expand in Iloilo and rehabilitate power infrastructure in Central Negros. Our expertise aligns perfectly with their vision of a modern, efficient, and reliable energy system,' Ochava said.
