Surigao city: Power has been fully restored to Nonoc Island, which houses seven barangays of Surigao City, after collaborative efforts between the Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative (SURNECO) and the city government. Officials announced on Wednesday the successful restoration of power in the villages of Aurora, Zaragoza, Lisondra, San Pedro, Cantiasay, Nonoc, and Talisay, which had been without electricity for several days after strong winds from Severe Tropical Storm Crising severely damaged a power tower last week.
According to Philippines News Agency, the city government, on July 19, immediately assisted SURNECO by deploying the city's landing craft barge to transport the needed materials for the repair. Initial repair efforts were delayed last week due to hazardous weather conditions and safety concerns for SURNECO's technical personnel.
In a statement, SURNECO acknowledged the crucial support from the city government, which enabled their linemen and technical staff to complete the restoration work efficiently.
