PRC-CAR Moves Toward Computerization of 11 More Licensure Exams

Baguio: The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) is planning to implement computerized systems for at least 11 additional licensure examinations in the city. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of conducting the exams and reduce the workload of the agency.

According to Philippines News Agency, the shift towards computerization was confirmed by Juanita Domogen, the regional director of PRC-CAR, in an exclusive interview. Domogen stated that the transition to computerized licensure examinations would be gradual. The effort began with the Chemical Engineers licensure examination, conducted from May 21 to 23, which was completed without any issues.

Domogen highlighted the significant reduction in wait time for results due to the computerized system. Previously, examinees had to wait three to five days for their results. Now, they receive their performance feedback within 24 hours. In the recent Chemical Engineers exam, 110 examinees participated, with 79 successfully passing, marking a pass rate of 71.82 percent. Notably, three examinees in Baguio ranked in the top 10.

The PRC Board is initially focusing on exams with fewer candidates-referred to as small board exams-for this shift to computerization. The targeted examinations expected to transition to computerized systems by December include those for Certified Plant Mechanic, Food Technologists, Sanitary Engineers, Librarians, Psychologists, Chemists, Mining Engineers, Veterinarians, Nutritionists-Dietitians, Chemical Engineers, and X-Ray Technologists.
