Antique: The Department of Agriculture (DA) will resume the distribution of the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP) for more than 14,000 rice and corn farmers in Antique on July 22. DA Agricultural Program Coordinating Office-Antique head Sonie Guanco stated that the initiative will start with 4,876 validated farmers, each receiving PHP2,325.
According to Philippines News Agency, these farmers are registered with the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), actively cultivating two hectares or less, and have been impacted by the energy crisis. An initial payout was conducted in the second quarter, but some failed to claim their cash assistance. Additionally, there are farmers who have recently registered with the RSBSA, thereby expanding the coverage.
Overall, the PAFFP aims to support 50,749 farmers across the 18 municipalities in the province. Guanco encouraged beneficiaries to prioritize the use of their cash assistance for additional farm inputs, which can enhance their agricultural productivity.
