PRO-13 Operations Yield 38 Loose Firearms and 40 Drug Suspects

Caraga: The Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 has successfully confiscated 38 loose firearms during a series of operations conducted from October 11 to 16.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PRO-13 reported that three small firearms were surrendered in Agusan del Norte, nine in Agusan del Sur, eleven in Surigao del Norte, and two in Butuan City. Additionally, nine small firearms were confiscated in Surigao del Sur, while four were seized by the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.

In a statement, PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV urged all firearms holders in the region to renew their licenses or voluntarily surrender their unregistered firearms to authorities. Meanwhile, 40 drug suspects were apprehended, and PHP893,916.44 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in 38 operations across the region. Of those arrested, 11 were identified as high-value targets, and 29 were classified as street-level drug personalities. Surigao del Norte recorded the highest number of arrests with 14 suspects.

In addition to these operations, the PRO-13 apprehended 456 individuals for violating various city and municipal ordinances, including traffic infractions, curfew violations by minors, and drinking and smoking in public places. Most of the violators were issued fines and warned before being released. Magistrado emphasized that strict enforcement of local ordinances is part of ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and order, serving as a means to instill discipline and encourage compliance with local regulations.
