Project ‘ORCHIDS’ to Promote Values Education in Antique Schools

San jose de buenavista: The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique is preparing to launch Project 'ORCHIDS' or Outreach for Restoration of Character, Holistic Intervention and Domestic Support. This initiative aims to promote values education among learners and enhance family support within the community.

According to Philippines News Agency, DepEd Antique Values Restoration Officer Rizalina Sebuan stated that the initiative supports their Kaagapay Program, which seeks to institutionalize a stronger partnership among schools, families, and communities for the holistic development and well-being of learners. "The project aims to promote the shared responsibility among schools, families, and communities in values education," Sebuan explained.

The project will motivate parents to participate in family development sessions during Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings. These sessions will provide a platform to discuss the behavioral, emotional, and social needs of their children. Additionally, topics on mental health will be addressed to foster positive behavior and reinforce the family support system.

Sebuan emphasized that DepEd believes a strengthened family support system is crucial for the academic and socio-emotional development of learners. "This is why we are forging a strong partnership with the parents," she added. The project will officially launch at the Antique National School (ANS) in San Jose de Buenavista on April 25, with local officials, including San Jose de Buenavista Mayor Paul Joseph Untaran, school guidance counselors, and other stakeholders expected to attend.
