Manila: The Philippine Statistics Authority in Western Visayas (PSA-6) is calling on Ilonggos and other residents in the region to actively engage in the 2027 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) enumeration.
According to Philippines News Agency, PSA-6 Regional Director Nelida Amolar emphasized the importance of participation during a stakeholders forum on Tuesday. Amolar highlighted that current events should motivate residents to partake in the CBMS, even if they are not among the vulnerable sectors, as it benefits all in crisis situations.
Amolar clarified that participation in the CBMS is voluntary. She noted that during the 2024 enumeration, many residents opted out due to unawareness of its significance in shaping social protection programs.
PSA-6 Statistical Analyst Ricamarie Gallego explained that the CBMS gathers multidimensional poverty data to aid in evidence-based policymaking and targeted poverty alleviation. This data supports sustainable economic development, planning, and resource allocation by local government units.
Gallego further noted that national government agencies utilize this comprehensive data to pinpoint priority beneficiaries, ensuring national social protection programs reach households in need. She also mentioned that the PSA has requested funding for the 2027 CBMS and urged local government units to allocate resources if the request is not approved.
