PSA Teams Up with DSWD for National ID and Birth Document Facilitation

Manila: The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Negros Oriental will co-locate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) for faster release of documents required for government programs: The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Negros Oriental is set to collaborate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) to expedite the issuance of vital documents necessary for government initiatives.

According to Philippines News Agency, engineer Ariel Fortuito, PSA-Negros Oriental chief statistical specialist and provincial head, highlighted that this co-location with DSWD-NIR aims to speed up the processing of documents. The collaboration will focus on facilitating the enrollment of beneficiaries into the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) and registering live births for those currently lacking official documentation.

The DSWD is engaged in enrolling participants into its 'Walang Gutom' program while also supporting other government schemes like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. Fortuito emphasized that accessibility to PSA services at the DSWD office would simplify the process for beneficiaries to obtain birth certificates and enroll in the national ID program, eliminating the need for travel to the PSA's main office in the city.

Beneficiaries will have the opportunity to secure an e-Phil ID immediately on-site. However, individuals applying for late birth registration will face a mandatory 10-day posting period before receiving their birth certificate. The PSA-Negros Oriental will begin its co-location at the DSWD-NIR's regional office situated in the outskirts barangay of Talay this week.
