Pasig City: The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is set to host the Sports Nutrition Day, a two-day seminar focusing on sports nutrition and health for both regular and para athletes, at the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City on May 6 and 7.

According to Philippines News Agency, the seminar, themed "Evolving Field of Sports Nutrition: Elevating Athletes' Performance," aims to equip athletes with critical nutritional knowledge and practices to enhance their preparation for major competitions such as the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics.

The Sports Nutrition Day will feature discussions on various topics including Practical and Sustainable Approaches to Weight and Body Composition Management for Athletes, Optimizing Hydration for Elite Athletes, Caffeine for Athletes: Benefits and Best Practices, How Does Recovery Nutrition Enhance the Athletes' Performance, and Understanding Supplements: What Athletes Need to Know.

Esteemed resource speakers from the Sports Nutrition Association of the Philippines, University of the Philippines, and PSC Medical Scientific Athlete Services - Sports Nutrition Unit will lead the sessions. PSC Commissioner Matthew Gaston, who oversees the project under the Health and Wellness Program, emphasized the importance of nutrition in achieving high-level performance, stating, "Champions always care about their nutrition as much as they do with their training."

Approximately 100 national athletes and coaches are expected to attend each day of the seminar, with the second day specifically devoted to para athletes and their coaches.
