Manila: Local shares declined anew on Wednesday as investors remained wary of President-elect Donald Trump's possible imposition of new tariffs. The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) fell by 1.53 percent to 6,702.59, while All Shares also went down by 0.96 percent. According to Philippines News Agency, "Philippine shares closed back in the 6700 level, falling more than 100 points as investors' concerns grew amid potential new tariffs suggested by President-elect Donald Trump," Regina Capital managing director Luis Limlingan stated. All sectors closed in the red, with Holding Firms recording the biggest decline at 2.40 percent. Decliners led advancers at 125 to 60. The peso, meanwhile, closed stronger against the dollar at 58.71 from the 59 finish the previous day. It opened at 58.92 and traded between 58.69 to 58.97. The weighted average stood at 58.82. Total volume went up to USD1.37 billion from USD872 million.
