Bangkok: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has assured international delegates that civil aviation in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region remains "efficient, interconnected, and safe." CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo made this statement during CAAP's chairmanship of the 35th Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG) meeting held at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regional office in Bangkok, Thailand from November 25 to 27. According to Philippines News Agency, Tamayo emphasized that the meeting ensured the region's civil aviation system is efficient and integrated, promoting collaboration and minimizing boundaries. This initiative aims to foster a more cohesive air navigation system benefiting all stakeholders involved. He underscored the critical role of APAPIRG in addressing crucial issues such as air navigation deficiencies, safety, and innovative practices, including the use of drones for flight inspections a nd virtualized Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM). Tamayo praised member states for their commitment to bridging implementation gaps and achieving significant regional milestones. He further stated that the Philippines' leadership at the 35th APANPIRG signifies a pivotal moment for enhancing partnerships in the APAC region and reaffirms the country's dedication to fostering connectivity and aviation safety. He encouraged the APAC region to support initiatives aimed at achieving zero deficiencies in all air navigation areas. Tamayo also highlighted that the Philippines' active role in this chairmanship strengthens its position as a key contributor to international aviation development, driving progress and collaboration across the region.
