PTA’s Madis, Aludo Secure PHINMA-ITF 2 Doubles Semis Berth

Makati city: Second seeds Tennielle Madis and Stefi Marithe Aludo triumphed over Japanese Kimika Fukui and Korean Mi Na Lee, 6-4, 6-2, on Friday, securing a semifinal spot in the girls' doubles category of the J60 PHINMA International Junior Tennis Championships second leg at the Manila Polo Club shell court.

According to Philippines News Agency, Madis and Aludo, who claimed the championship in the first leg, will face third seeds Seojin Park of Korea and Haritha Shree Venkatesh. Park and Venkatesh secured their place in the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Australian Ashlee Lessue and Filipino Erynne Francesca Ong in another quarterfinal match.

The top seeds, Yesung Choo of Korea and Yu-Ning Tsai of Chinese Taipei, also moved forward after achieving a 6-3, 7-5 win against Chinese Yuhan Chen and Filipino Jana Jelena Nicole Diaz. Choo and Tsai are set to meet fourth seeds Taylah Lessue of Australia and Elizaveta Nalesnik of Russia, who defeated Koreans Rae Youn Kim and Seo-Youn Kim, 6-4, 6-2.

In the boys' singles category, first-leg champion Min Hyuk Cho of Korea continued his impressive performance, reaching the quarterfinals. Cho, seeded third, outplayed Indian Anurag Shourya Kallambella, 6-3, 6-3, and will next face Indian Daksh Kukreti, who overcame Filipino wild card James Vynald Ryle Aquino, 6-3, 6-1.

No. 2 seed and first leg runner-up Tae Woo Kim of Korea advanced with a challenging 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2 victory over Filipino John Kendrick Bona. Kim will compete against Singaporean Luke Jie Xi Ho, who achieved a hard-fought 6-0, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (7) win over Taiwanese Ting-Ho Yang.

No. 4 Australian Lachian King and No. 8 Indian Ojas Mehlawat progressed by defeating their respective opponents to set up a quarterfinal clash. King overcame Filipino Kenzo Marcus Brodeth, 6-3, 6-4, while Mehlawat beat Filipino wild card Lucas Sebastian Go, 7-5, 6-2.

Indians Hruthik Katakam and Yashwin Dahiya registered contrasting triumphs to arrange a quarterfinal meeting. Katakam, who earlier ousted No. 1 Korean Se Hyuk Cho, dominated Hong Kong's Man Lok Yang, 6-1, 6-2. Meanwhile, Dahiya rallied from a set down to defeat No. 5 Taiwanese Kuan-Ting Chen, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4.
