PTA’s Madis and Aludo Sweep PHINMA-ITF Juniors Doubles Title

Makati city: Tennielle Madis and Stefi Marithe Aludo of the Philippine Tennis Academy captured their second doubles title in the two-leg PHINMA-ITF Junior Championships, which concluded Sunday at the Manila Polo Club shell court.

According to Philippines News Agency, the second-ranked Filipinos scored a 6-1, 6-4 victory over No. 2 pair Yesung Choo of Korea and Yu-Ning Tsai of Chinese Taipei. They had previously won the first leg by beating Tsai and Chinese Yuhan Chen, 6-2, 7-5, last week.

Madis and Aludo now have six titles to their names, with previous victories in Manila, China, Thailand, and Sri Lanka last year. In the girls' singles category, second seed Yesung Choo triumphed over fourth seed Chen, 7-5, 6-0, to claim her second straight title, having defeated Aludo, 6-2, 6-2, in the first leg.

In the boys division, third seed Korean Min Hyuk Cho blanked fourth seed Australian Lachlan King, 6-0, 6-0, to pocket his second consecutive title. He had earlier defeated compatriot Tae Woo Kim, 7-5, 6-3, in the first leg. Kim and Kuan-Ting Chen of Chinese Taipei claimed their second doubles title after overcoming top seeds Cho and compatriot Se Hyuk Cho, 6-2, 6-1. Kim and Chen had outplayed the fourth-seeded Taiwanese pair Kousuke Ko and Kuan-Hsien Yu, 7-5, 6-1, in the first leg.

The awarding ceremony was graced by the presence of PHINMA chairman emeritus Oscar Hilado and PTA president Romy Chan.
