PVL on Tour Kicks Off in Vigan with Exciting Matches

Vigan: Regional fans will be treated to action-packed matches in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Tour starting in Vigan, Ilocos Sur on Sunday. Akari takes on Cignal at 4 p.m. while Creamline battles Capital1 at 6:30 p.m. The teams will swap rivals on Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the pre-season tour will move to Batangas City on June 28, with Choco Mucho meeting Galeries Tower and Nxled taking on Petro Gazz in the second match. It will be the Angels against the Highrisers and the Flying Titans against the Chameleons the following day.

PVL president Ricky Palou emphasized the tour's importance for the national team's preparation for international duties, including the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand this December. "This tour is about connecting with our regional fans and helping the national team gear up for bigger battles. It is also a stage for clubs to evaluate their new recruits and recalibrate strategies before the main season," Palou said in a press statement on Tuesday.

The rest of the games will be held in Ilagan City, Isabela, and Passi City, Iloilo. The 12 teams will be divided into two pools. Pool A features All-Filipino Conference champion Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho, PLDT, Galeries Tower, Farm Fresh, and Nxled, while Pool B includes Creamline, Chery Tiggo, Cignal, Akari, ZUS Coffee, and Capital1.

After a single round-robin elimination from June 22 to July 29, the top two teams from each pool earn quarterfinal slots. Teams ranked third to sixth will face off in a knockout play-in, with the winners advancing to the next do-or-die round. The semifinals and medal matches will be single-elimination affairs, all culminating in a high-stakes clash for the PVL on Tour crown and berths to the PVL Invitational set for August 19-29, where they will compete with two guest squads.
