QC Assures Safe Aid Payout After Driver’s Medical Emergency

Quezon city: The Quezon City government has assured the public that its cash relief assistance distribution remains safe and orderly following a medical emergency involving a driver beneficiary during the payout at the Quezon Memorial Circle on Wednesday. In a statement Thursday, the city government also assured that the driver is now in a safe condition.

According to Philippines News Agency, the report indicated that the driver has a seizure condition, which led to him fainting. The QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office emergency response team quickly attended to the situation, transporting the patient to Quezon City General Hospital for examination and necessary treatment.

After a thorough examination, the driver and his family decided that hospitalization was not required. Earlier reports indicated that the jeepney driver collapsed and suffered a seizure while queuing for the PHP5,000 fuel subsidy payout, allegedly due to an electrolyte imbalance caused by prolonged hunger.

The city government mentioned that the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided additional financial assistance, and the QC LGU supplied maintenance medicines. The QC government emphasized that safety protocols are in place as payouts continue for drivers from various groups and asked beneficiaries for their cooperation and understanding.
