Quezon city: The Quezon City government logged 648 new cases and four dengue-related deaths from Nov. 17 to Dec. 4. Overall, a total of 10,609 cases were reported in the city from Jan. 1 to Dec. 4 or an increase of 1,880 since Oct. 7.

According to Philippines News Agency, the city government urged residents via a social media post on Tuesday to seek immediate consultation at the first signs of dengue, such as fever, headache, and rashes, to prevent severe complications and reduce the risk of death. The QC Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (QCESD) surveillance report noted that case counts remained above the epidemic threshold from Morbidity Weeks 40 to 47 (Sept. 28 to Nov. 16), except during Week 46.

The four dengue-related deaths involved three males and one female aged 5 to 21 years. Three of these cases presented warning signs at the time of report, while one case was classified as severe. Of the recent 648 new cases, 57 percent or 368 were male, while 43 percent or 280 were female. Additionally, 324 cases or half of the patients were children aged 5 to 17 years.

The QCESD reported that 326 or 59 percent of the cases were classified as dengue with warning signs, 305 cases or 47 percent as dengue without warning signs, and 12 cases or 2 percent as severe dengue. Barangay Payatas recorded the most number of cases, followed by Batasan Hills and Commonwealth.

The top reporting hospitals are Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, National Children's Hospital, and Quezon City General Hospital.
