Pasig city: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and its key shelter agency, Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), have delivered an early Christmas gift to beneficiaries of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program in Pasig City. On Tuesday, a PHP21 million check was awarded to the Centennial Sunrise Homeowners' Association, Inc. to facilitate the acquisition of the land occupied by beneficiaries of SHFC's Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP).
According to Philippines News Agency, the payment for the landowner will allow the community to transition to legitimate and secure land ownership. In addition to this, SHFC provided a grant of over PHP84,000 to cover the documentary stamp tax on the mortgage, reflecting the ECMP's comprehensive approach, which encompasses both land acquisition and additional benefits aimed at improving the lives of its beneficiaries.
During a simple ceremony attended by the officers and members of the Centennial Sunrise Homeowners Association, SHFC president and chief executive officer Federico Laxa personally handed over the checks. DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling stated, "Alinsunod ito sa direktiba ng Pangulong Marcos Jr. na bigyan ng mas may dignidad na pamumuhay sa ating mga kababayan sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay sa kanila ng seguridad," emphasizing the government's commitment to ensuring security and dignity for Filipino families through land ownership.
Moreover, Deputy Administrator Lee Robert Britanico of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) announced the availability of the Enhanced Lifeline Program (ELP) for qualified members of Centennial Sunrise HOA. This government-supported initiative offers discounted water rates to eligible low-income consumers, following the memorandum of understanding signed by SHFC and MWSS RO on Dec. 5.
Centennial Sunrise HOA, comprising 175 members, is one of the five ECMP communities that received their Certificate of Lot Award from President Marcos during the National Housing Expo on Oct. 23 in Pasay City. SHFC, headquartered in Makati, plays a pivotal role as a key shelter agency under DHSUD.
