Visayas: A red alert status was issued anew for the Visayas grid for Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., due to the outage of several power plants. A yellow alert is also issued from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

According to Philippines News Agency, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported that the grid's available capacity is around 2,561 megawatts (MW), which is insufficient to meet the transmission's grid contingency requirement since peak demand is expected to reach 2,568MW. This shortage is primarily attributed to the unavailability of several power plants, including the generating units 1 and 2 of the Therma Visayas Inc. (TVI), and the Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC).

NGCP highlighted that a total of 10 power plants are unavailable this month alone. Additionally, four others have been out since June, seven since May, one since March, and several others have been non-operational since 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2021. Furthermore, there are 14 power plants operating on derated capacities, which brings the total unavailable capacity to the grid to 959.3MW.
