Report Mechanism Launched to Verify Status of Super Health Centers

Manila: The Department of Health (DOH) has launched the Bantay Super Health Center initiative, a citizen-led monitoring program that encourages the public to report non-operational or underperforming facilities. In a Facebook post, the agency said the program is part of its ongoing investigation on unfinished or idle health facilities across the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative forms a key recommendation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure, aims to promote transparency, and ensures that health centers built through public funds are accessible and functional. Through the Citizen Participatory Audit mechanism, citizens may report incomplete, non-operational, or poorly maintained Super Health Centers by submitting verified information to the DOH.

To file a report, individuals may download the reporting form from www.doh.gov.ph/bantaysuperhealth, fill out the necessary details including the facility's address and condition, and attach recent photos showing the center's current state. Photos should include a newspaper showing the date to verify when the image was taken. Completed reports may be sent via email to [email protected].

The DOH assured that the identities of individuals submitting reports will be kept strictly confidential. The agency will review all reports and will coordinate with concerned local government units to address the issues raised. The Bantay Super Health Center program reflects the agency's commitment to a more transparent and participatory approach in monitoring public health infrastructure.

Super Health Centers are designed to bring essential health services closer to communities, providing outpatient, birthing, diagnostic, and emergency services, among others. However, several facilities have been reported idle or underutilized since their completion. The DOH said the public's participation in the Bantay Super Health Center program will help ensure that the facilities serve their intended purpose and reach the communities that need them most.
