Revilla Advocates for Enhanced Building Code and Flood Control Measures

Iloilo City: Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. has committed to fortifying the nation's Building Code to ensure that infrastructure can endure strong earthquakes.

According to Philippines News Agency, in an interview conducted on Thursday, just hours before a campaign rally, the re-electionist senator, representing the administration's slate Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, expressed his intent to review older buildings. This assessment aims to decide whether these structures require reinforcement or demolition to ensure public safety.

Beyond the Building Code review, Revilla stressed the necessity for a comprehensive master plan to tackle the escalating flood issues in the country. He emphasized that this initiative is a priority being championed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

During his appeal to Ilonggo voters, Revilla underscored his extensive legislative track record. He has been involved in authoring, co-authoring, sponsoring, or co-sponsoring over 2,000 bills and resolutions, with 343 of these being enacted into law. His significant contributions include the Anti-No Permit, No Exam Law, the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, and the Expanded Centenarians Law, which extends benefits for senior citizens reaching the age of 100.
