Ruiz Remains at Helm of Presidential Communications Office as Confirmation Delayed

Pasay City: The Commission on Appointments (CA) has deferred the confirmation of several Cabinet members, including Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Jay Ruiz, citing a "lack of material time" as the reason for the postponement. This decision leaves Ruiz in the position, as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has not rescinded his ad interim appointment.

According to Philippines News Agency, Ruiz confirmed during an ambush interview at the Senate in Pasay City that he remains in his role as the PCO chief. He revealed that he had recently spoken with Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, who advised him to focus on his duties. Bersamin assured Ruiz that there was no withdrawal of his appointment, indicating continued support from the President's office.

Ruiz expressed uncertainty about the timing of the next CA confirmation hearing, stating that it is entirely dependent on the commission's schedule. He noted that the delay has provided him with additional time to prepare for his confirmation. His appearance was originally slated for 11:30 a.m., following the Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Roel Aguda, whose confirmation was also postponed.
