Manila: The Supreme Court (SC) has joined forces with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Philippines to initiate an implementation survey as a significant step in the 'Improving Judicial Efficiency and Accessibility by Innovating Philippine Courts' project.
According to Philippines News Agency, the survey was officially launched on June 30 at the SC Session Hall, with attendance from SC justices, officials, and KOICA representatives. This initiative is aimed at integrating electronic systems into court operations, providing tools for verifying case details, managing court records, and converting paper records into digital formats. Training for key court personnel will be conducted to ensure effective use of new systems.
The SC highlighted that the implementation survey will analyze existing laws, court processes, and IT systems. It will also evaluate the SC's eCourt PH to identify areas for improvement and ensure alignment with the Judiciary's modernization objectives. eCourt PH is set to achieve full digitization of court proceedings by April 2026.
The SC noted that eCourt PH will move towards a fully automated and paperless system, featuring virtual hearings, electronic filing (eFiling), and real-time case tracking and monitoring. These advancements aim to enhance access to justice for the public.
During the launch, KOICA experts shared results from the initial survey and outlined the goals of the implementation survey. These include timely data access, a clear definition of the SC's needs, and a focus on key systems to drive meaningful reform.
