School Bags and Supplies Distributed to Over 21,000 Learners in Legazpi City

Legazpi city: The city government has undertaken a significant initiative by distributing over 21,000 school bags filled with essential supplies to elementary learners from public schools in 70 barangays.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Hisham Ismail announced that these school supplies were delivered to students from 44 public schools. The distribution program, supported by the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod, aims to provide learners with necessary school materials, considering that some students currently use plastic envelopes as their bags. Each distributed bag contains six notebooks, a pencil eraser, and a pencil case.

In addition to the school supplies, Mayor Ismail mentioned that a food truck would visit three barangays each day on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This initiative is part of the efforts to address nutritional needs, as the city does not currently offer free meals in schools. Each barangay is required to implement a 120-day feeding program, with funding shared between the barangay budget for 60 days and the local government unit for the remaining 60 days.
