Manila: The Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC) has announced a temporary suspension of monthly housing loan payments from August 29 to September 28, 2026, aimed at providing financial relief to communities impacted by the enhanced southwest monsoon, locally referred to as "habagat".
According to Philippines News Agency, the SHFC has emphasized its commitment to the safety and recovery of affected communities. The payment relief targets qualified member-beneficiaries in the National Capital Region, as well as the provinces of Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bataan, and Tarlac, covering more than PHP23.4 million in housing assistance.
Last month, the SHFC extended PHP5.3 million in debt relief to qualified beneficiaries in the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Rizal, and Cavite. The agency has advised affected individuals to focus on family welfare, safety, and community rehabilitation during this period.
Qualified beneficiaries seeking further information or clarification on the payment deferment are encouraged to contact their designated account officers or local SHFC branch offices. This initiative follows directives from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Housing Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling to deliver prompt assistance to communities affected by recent natural disasters.
