Six More Dalian Trains to Operate Before Year-End, Says Dizon

San juan city: Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced that six additional Dalian train cars will be operational by the end of the year, with plans for the remaining 48 train cars to be operational by next year. This development aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s initiative to enhance the service capacity of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) using Dalian train cars.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dizon made this announcement during the 2025 Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) discussions in San Juan City. He emphasized the President's directive to utilize all Dalian trains to benefit commuters and ensure taxpayer money is spent effectively. Dizon highlighted that the MRT-3's Japanese maintenance provider, Sumitomo Corporation, is addressing technical issues to guarantee the safety of these trains.

Currently, three Dalian train cars are operational at the MRT-3. In his recent SONA, President Marcos instructed that more Dalian train cars be utilized at the MRT-3 by year-end, with full operational capacity expected by 2026. Additionally, he announced the revival of the 'Love Bus,' a government-run public bus service, which will begin in Cebu and Davao, providing free rides to the public.

The introduction of additional train cars and the reinstatement of the 'Love Bus' service are part of broader efforts to improve public transportation in the Philippines.
