Sofronio Vasquez to Sing PH National Anthem at SONA 2025

Quezon city: Sofronio Vasquez, the first Filipino to win 'The Voice US', will sing the Philippine national anthem at President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28, 2025, at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City. Malaca±ang made the announcement Tuesday in a news release.

According to Philippines News Agency, Vasquez was born in Misamis Occidental and first competed in the second season of Tawag ng Tanghalan in 2017, finishing as a finalist. Vasquez later returned for Tawag ng Tanghalan's all-star edition in 2019, where he placed third. He has since performed on both national and international stages and is regarded as one of the country's distinguished vocalists.

The Palace stated, "Selecting Vasquez, a multi-awarded singer known for his renditions of patriotic and classical pieces, reflects the administration's intent to blend tradition and excellence in this year's SONA ceremony. His participation is seen as a tribute to Filipino talent and national pride." In January, Vasquez met with the First Couple in Malaca±ang.
